How old should my baby be for their newborn photo shoot?
To get the typical posed newborn images you see on instagram I recommend between 8-18 days. Of course your baby can be older, but he or she might not get in as deep of a sleep and is not as squishy anymore. We will still get beautiful images, but baby is the star of the show and calls the shots. Please come with an open mind as I am completely baby led and only pose them in positions they are comfortable with. Sometimes newborns are gassy and might not like to be posed on their stomach, so I just move on and we will capture other beautiful poses.
I do recommend trying to get your newborn photo shoot scheduled before the baby is two months old, just to capture that newborn sweetness after that I recommend waiting until they are able to sit and book a Milestone session to get the most variety.
When should I schedule my newborn photography session?
To make sure your preferred newborn photographer is available I recommend booking during your second trimester. I then book your due date on my calendar and wait for you to email me as soon as the baby is born to schedule your newborn photo shoot. However, it is never too late to reach out as we all know baby’s come early or late and I might be able to fit you in on short notice. So, if baby is already born, simply contact me to find out availability.
My newborn has a skin rash/baby acne. Should I reschedule the session?
No, most of my babies have little pimples or rashes and this is why you hire a professional newborn photographer, because we will take care of this in the editing process.
